The latest Ford F-150 received a redesign for the 2021 model and the gas-powered version will be a carry-over model for 2022. The big news for the 2022 F-150 is a new all-electric version, named F-150 Lightning, but that will be available only in crew-cab. For the 2022 F-150 Regular Cab, Ford offers a few changes including new colors and package options. The 2022 Ford F-150 Regular cab version is available only on two trims - XL and XLT with prices starting at an MSRP of $29,640 for the short bed, V6, and rear-wheel-drive version. A high-performance version of the Raptor, popularly known as Raptor R, is set to join the 2022 Ford F-150 lineup and compete against Ram TRX.

The F-150 Regular Cab will continue to offer the same 290 hp 3.3L V6 and can tow up to 5,000 pounds in its base configuration. The 3.0-liter Power Stroke diesel engine is no longer available. The interior will continue with a utilitarian look and will include a split-bench seat with cloth upholstery and an 8-inch touchscreen with Sync 4. For those who are looking to stand out with their F-150 regular cab, the 11 color options are expected to continue. That said, it will come into direct competition to Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Regular Cab, Ram 1500 Classic Regular cab, and the GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab.

Competition

6.0/10

2022 Ford F-150 Regular Cab vs 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 regular Cab

The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab has better interior features, more interior space, better towing in its base configuration as well. However, the Ford F-150 does offer a better fuel economy, choices of more powerful engines and even a choice of two-bed lengths perfectly suited to your needs. Additionally, the Ford F-150 is a bit more affordable too.

2022 GMC Sierra 1500 regular Cab

2022 Ford F-150 Regular Cab vs 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Regular Cab

The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 takes a tough beating when compared to the Ford as the F-150 looks better, performs better, and certainly has a better fuel economy when compared to the Silverado. F-150’s infotainment system is also better along with offering a choice of pick-up bed lengths making the F-150 a better option. However, as it is similarly priced it does round up to which one you like.

2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Regular Cab

2022 Ford F-150 Regular Cab vs 2021 RAM 1500 Classic Regular Cab

The Ram 1500 makes more power but does lose out in performance, however, offers more in towing capacity and driving range. Ram is known for building one of the best interiors in the pick-up truck segment, but you will see that on higher trims in crew cabs on Rams. That said, the Ram 1500 classic is a bit cheaper than the Ford F-150.

Final Verdict

The Ford F-150 has been updated in the 2021 model year hence we do not expect it to have many changes for the 2022 iteration. That said, there is a lot of performance on offer and there is a decent amount of space and options for customizating the truck to suit your work needs.
