The XC60 takes corners well, feels tied to the road while cruising, and changes directions with confidence.- Car And Driver
The 2022 Volvo XC60 retains the engine options from 2021 MY. Labeled as the B5, you get a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 cylinder engine with a 48-volt mild hybrid system that churns out 247 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. If that feels short, you can opt for the more powerful B6. The B6 adds a supercharger to the B5 powertrain which improves the power output to 295 hp and the torque to 295 lb-ft. Both the powertrains are hooked up to an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard.
For fuel frugality and better power, the T8 Hybrid powertrain in the Volvo XC60 Recharge is the option. It combines an 87 hp electric motor with the B6 powertrain to churn out 400 hp. If you opt for the T8 Polestar Engineered option, the power output increases to 415 hp. The B5 comes with FWD as standard and AWD as optional for $2,300 across the trims while the T8 and B6 are hooked up to an AWD as standard for a wholesome driving experience.
While it is not built for it the 2022 Volvo XC60 definitely sees an improvement in its acceleration specs owing to the mild-hybrid system addition. With the B5 powertrain, the ride can sprint from 0-60 mph in 6.1 seconds while the quarter-mile comes up in 14.7 seconds. The B6 causes these figures to drop to 5.7 seconds in the 0-60 mph and 14.2 seconds in the quarter-mile drag. The T8 powertrain is still the quickest by posting a time of 4.8 seconds in the 0-60 mph sprint and 13.4 seconds in the quarter-mile.

Compared to the rest, the Volvo XC60 is less powerful this time around but packs more punch with its acceleration figures. The Porsche Macan extracts the most out of the pocket, and yet is the slowpoke when it comes to sprinting. However, it makes that up with the decent driving experience it offers. The BMW X3 offers similar specs as the XC60, however, it is slightly slower than the Scandinavian. The Mercedes Benz GLC Class is the most powerful and that shows in its acceleration times.
